This semester, the Howard Concert Band, of which I am a member, played in two community service concerts - Convocation and the Inauguration of President Ben Vinson III, PhD. These concerts were an amazing experience, not only was I able to participate in some very important events at Howard, but I was also able to get to know the other members of the band better.
The first performance we did was Opening Convocation, which welcomed in the school year. At this event, we heard Keynote Speaker Dr. Ben Vinson III speak about his high expectations for the school year and excitement to be included. He was so inspirational. Participating at such an event is empowering and made me feel closer to my Howard community.
Our second perfomance of the semester was Dr. Ben Vinson IIIs Inauguration. At this event, I was able to learn more about Dr. Ben Vinson's past acomplishment, present focuses, and future goals. I have extreme faith in the future of our university. In both concerts, the music we played was not particularly difficult, but I enjoyed my experience, nonetheless.
